finished frame sliders
I finished the slider install today, and didnt come out as i would of hoped. I used the laser pointer idea, and for some reason when it came down to cutting the hole, the hole was about an quarter of an inch off. The left side came out good, but the right side came out alittle sloppy. Anyone ever use something to make the hole seem smaller. I thought about using a groumet, but the hole is uneven on opposite sides of the slider, so a complete groumet wouldnt fit. thanks guys

That sucks they aren't lined up. You might not have had the laser exactly even with the bike. Try getting some edge trim and glue it in place. It might make the slider install look a little more professional if it turns out right, other than that try to find a fairing off of ebay and sell your old one??

RE: finished frame sliders
here is what im talking about. The hole saw that i used was a alittle too big, but i figured it would be okay because the space on all the sides would have been like fractions of an inch. The only reason why it looks like such a big gap is because the slider is completly off to a certain side of the hole. And by the way the discolorations in the paint isnt scratches, its reflections because i have that paint caked in wax!!
The first picture is the left side, and the last picture is the right side of the bike. tell me what ya'll think. thanks

RE: finished frame sliders
Hey,
I've seen sliders with a 'grommet' aroung them that look like the black 'grommet' that comes on a computer desk. You know the part you put the cords down through, on a particle board workstation. I don't know if that piece came with the sliders or you can pick up something like that at Lowes or Home Depot, as they carry replacement parts for all that pressboard crap which everything is made out of these days. I'm gonna do mine as soon as i get a nice weekend here, I'll think I'll use the playdough on the bolt head method.
