Default Finally found the problem..

Now to repair it. What would the best way be to repair this? There isn't enough wire sticking out to soder it. You can see a previous owner had this problem before and apparently tried to fix it. So what would be the best fixes? Sorry for how dirty it is.

You might have to 'bridge' past the connector with your own bullet connection.
Just lose the crimp connectors, so you only have the one connection.

you should be able to pop out the pin on the connector with a scribe or some dental tools. than pry the connector open and re crimp/solder the wire back onto the pin. then reinsert. be patient as it can be a pain to get out at times.

i would also do away with those nasty splices and solder/heat shrink an extension wire :-)

I'll upload a picture tomorrow, but what I ended up doing was getting rid of the horrible crimps(whoever put them there used the wrong type of wire in between the crimps) and ended up soldering a longer wire to the connector, then I crimped and heat shrunk the extension wire & the original wire that came out of the harness. Hopefully it all holds up.

So it was fixed but then the wire broke again at the same place so I pulled the pin out and it turns out part of it is broken off. At this point what should I do? Local auto part stores didn't have any connector that came close.Name: IMG_5414.jpg

What is it actually connecting to? An easily replaced component?
Or are you just wanting a replacement pin? Is it male or female, it looks female.
Here is a site that sells the pins and connectors of all different types.
Very quick service, I got my order in 4 days.

OEM-Type Bullet & Spade Electrical Connectors for 1960's through 1970's Japanese Vehicles... Bridgestone, Datsun, Hodaka, Honda, Kawasaki, Landcruiser, Suzuki, Tohatsu, VW, & Yamaha

If all you need is the regular size pin, I'll drop a couple in an envelop and mail them to
you. Just let me know, male of female. I'll have to double-check to be sure I still have
some, but if so, you're welcome to a couple.

If you have any chunks of old harness anywhere, see if you can salvage a pin from that, is another possibility.

Hope this helps, Ern

Those look different than what I have.

You might try to just de-solder the old pin and
re-use it. It looks intact.
