ndf4 is right, the light should stay on till you turn the motor over and running.

Default FI Light stays on (but no diagnosis error)

Hello from Downunder ....

I acquired a CBR600F4i a few weeks ago - it's done about 31,000 kms (about 19,000 miles) - aside from a minor dent in the tank from a low speed drop (from what I can tell), the bike is great condition.

My only problem now is the annoying FI Light that STAYS ON while the BIKE IS RUNNING - I did short the diagnostic leads procedure thing (as per the service manual) to determine if there was an problem with the engine somewhere, but as the FI Light did not even come on (let alone blink) during the diagnostic stage, I can confirm there is nothing wrong with the engine, not surprising because it runs fine.

However as soon as the engine fires up, the FI Light comes on, stays on, no blink whatsoever. The previous owner said the service mechanic that checked out the bike said the same thing - no major dramas, but like me, couldn't work out where the short circuit could be, causing the FI Light to stay on (the service manuals does suggest it's a short circuit somewhere).

Has anyone come across this FI Light staying on issue before? And has anyone discovered a potential area causing the short circuit?

Any help appreciated - the bike BTW is awesome! It'd be even more awesome if the red FI Light didn't mockingly stare at me everytime I rode it .....

Im wondering if the oxygen sensor may have something to do with several peoples FI light issues. I removed my oxygen sensor and did the resistor mod to it and now on occasion on hot days when im riding hard my FI light will come one and the only thing i can think of is that the resistors may not be the right ones. Im sure i did the mod accordingly but not sure.

I'll have a look at the oxygen sensor connection tomorrow when I take the fuel tank off for the spark plug inspection / change and valve clearance check / adjust. Am not sure what the resistor mod is about, but will look for it on the forum.

I had issues with FI light come up due to the vacuum hose that was disconnected from the MAP sensor. Check your vacuum hoses.

Guys, thanks for your suggestions so far - I spent the weekend checking the vacuum hoses and MAP sensor and other connections, following the cleaning and gap-checking of my spark plugs. The engine runs beautifully now (no more low rev splutter thanks to the clean sparkies), but the flipping FI Light is still on ...

I'm starting to think there is a simple diagnosis short circuit happening somewhere (that doesn't affect the engine), because when I shorted/jumped the diagnostic connector, the FI Light did NOT light up once throughout the whole diagnostic and reset process (ignition on/off, run switch on/off, then engine starting and idling ...). The FI Light just stayed unlit no matter how many times I repeated the diagnostic and reset process (my neighbours got tired of me I think with the engine cranking and idling and then stopping again ...)

Conversely, when the diagnostic connector was NOT shorted/jumped, the FI Light stayed lit throughout the diagnostic and reset process ie. it tells me jack all .... it just stays lit ...

I think I'm just going to have to live with this stupid FI Light mockingly staring at me, until such time I find out what's short-circuiting the light ... I'm tempted to keep the diagnostic connector shorted so I don't see the FI Light at all !!! Not sure what that will do to the system, perhaps when there IS a problem, the FI Light may not light up at all to tell me what the problem is ...

My light comes on during high speeds or when I open full throttle but not when stationary only when riding and it’s messes with my RPM ‘s causing the bike jerk forward and majority of the time causes the bike to shut off But the light goes away when I hold the clutch Can someone help please

Would have a look at your side stand switch connections

Check the battery terminials make sure they are tight, as well as the wires to the starter relay (its by the battery).

Check the main ground wire from the battery to the starter mounting bolt. Also check the harness/sensors ground point on the frame, its located under the gas tank bolted to the same part of the frame that the top of the shock mounts to. It will be 5 green wires and one white/yellow wire that all joint together in 3 ring terminals bolted to the frame.

If that's not it, unhook your right controls "start button/kill switch" connector and plug it back in, incase it has a bad connection that might band aid it to reset the connector.
Like CaBaRet said, check your side stand also.

It's gotta be a loose connection somewhere, finding it is the fun part. A loose ground can cause all kinds of funny symptoms
