Default A few questions

2001 f4i, 250 250 175 250 compression passed a leak down test valves inspected approx 12k miles ago @ 10k miles. CCT just replaced.

1. can anyone explain why 4k rpm is 50mph 4.5k is 55 and 7krpm is 85 and 8k is 100? ( i may be a little off but there is a 15mph difference in 1k rpm at higher rpm's)

2. when i pull in the clutch while moving it sounds like there is some friction going on, as in mechanical sounds. any ideas what that is?

3. after putting 200 miles on the bike since its revival it starts up with a ticking sound that pretty much immediately goes away, again, any thoughts?

4. the gearbox is loud and clunky when changing gears right? not that loud but clunky. my 2011 is pretty quiet except if i drop to first while going 15 or so mph, then it sounds clunky like this f4i.

5. does a bigger rear tire grip better? i feel more confident at faster speeds making turns. (maybe my speedo is off)
example, on a ninja 650r, a turn i would take at 80mph, hanging off the side of the bike, sitting on a lower seat, less aggressive handlebars, on 120/160 tires feels like i shouldn't go faster.
and today going 90 on the f4i, which sits me up higher, aggressive handlebars, 120/180 and im wondering why i slowed down before the turn.
it may be my conscious being closer to the ground hanging off on the 650r and this isnt the only turn i've gone faster though on the cbr that i surprised myself. so im guessing its because im sitting higher on the cbr.
tires are battlax bto-16's on the 650r and battlax s20's on the cbr, probably in the tires. dumb question so i apologize in advance

1-Because thats how gearing goes. Its normal.
2- Perhaps you need to lube the cable? Where is the noise coming from?
3- Its normal. The engine is running before theres oil everywhere to keep it from ticking. If it continues after running for 5-10 seconds then perhaps you have something going on.
4- clunky compared to 07+ 600RR's? Yes very much. Compared to 03-05 R6's? Not even close. Feels the same if not better then my girlfriends 09 triumph 675 too.
5- Yes. More tire contacting the road.
