If she was moving and temp was reading 240+ that's not normal.
I've never had my bike run over 235 even on a humid95+degree day. The again I use straight water which may make a difference.
I agree with FLYOU, probably the temp sensor/sending unit.

i mean, i'm not jumping to conclusions and saying that's your problem. i'm just saying i had the same problem you are having and replaced everything BUT the sensor and i'm still having the same problem.

process of elimination.

i just noticed something. you're saying it started getting this hot once after they flushed the coolant? did it do this before the coolant flush? reason why i'm asking is because it's possible you have air in your system.

Take off the cap, let her heat up to about 120-140 or so and rev her up to about 10k to make sure the air is out. if the bike gets to 160 with the cap off, you're going to have a mess on your hands lol.

well i have gone through three or four different coolant because of this problem, and settled on distilled water+waterwetter. before you go and change(buy parts)things try a different coolant, i have heard this on other forums. sometimes the bike just doesn't like what your running in it, i know coolant is coolant but this is not true.

my bike was running on pro honda HP4 for about 6 years with no issues... when suddenly...

my bike hasn't seen all that fancy water wetter/engine ice stuff [&:]

it's always better to solve the problem than to ignore the problem

well i flushed mine last year and had the the temp spike all the way up to 250 which was not a fun ride but anyhow like i stated early i tired three different coolants. evans, engine ice, and i cant remember the other one. all i was saying is try the easy fix first versus buying a new part hondas are pretty much bullet proof.

I've never seen higher than 233 on mine, and that was a not fun day of being stuck in traffic during the Harley 105th in Milwaukee. Fan usually kicks in around 229 +/- 2 degrees.

so technically, what temp is too warm? just wondering when it is technically overheating?

My fan usually comes on at 220deg and thats only after sitting and have never seen it above 230 even in traffic on a 100deg + day.
