F4i vs RR
For the people that purchased 04-06 F4i's:
With a price difference of less than $500, what was the motivation to get the F4i vs the RR? I'm not looking to start a heated debate about which bike is better, I just want to know why people chose the F4i. |
RE: F4i vs RR
I chose the F4i because it was my first bike. Although I like the looks and undertail exhaust of the RR, I felt more comfortable at the dealship on the F4i compared to the RR. For me it was more about how comfortable I felt sitting on the bike. If I was more comfortable, I felt more confident.

RE: F4i vs RR
serious? difference of only 500 bucks?
it would be what the person wants to get out of the bike...f4i is one of the best all around bikes ever as far as performance, comfort, etc... RRs look bad arse but is bred for the track... |
RE: F4i vs RR
if you ride more then once a week the F4i's seat *even if you convert it to the 01-03 seat* is WAY more comfortable... the RR seat is like sitting on a plank of wood.

RE: F4i vs RR
THANK-YOU for asking this question!!! I have been asking myself the same thing for over a week now after buying a new 06 f4i. There was only a $499.00 difference. I thought I may have made the wrong choice. The RR has a superior swing arm, HP, upside down shocks, etc. What is Honda pulling off? Either losing $$$ on the RR or charging too much for the F4i. I talked myself into the F4i, because it was much more comfotable. I just sold my 03 SV650S. Contrary to popular belief, the sv650s has a super agressive forward lean. I didn't want that again, so I chose the F4i. Now that I have a few miles on the F4i, I am WAY more than pleased with my descision.
G P.S. What does the i stand for in F4i? |
RE: F4i vs RR
injected
as in fuel injected the F4 was carbed |
RE: F4i vs RR
I think the "I" stands for injection. As in fuel injection. But I could be wrong.

You beat me to the reply! That is an awsome pic by the way. Is it a scetch of the design you will put on your bike?

RE: F4i vs RR
It came down to what I wanted out of a bike, and which model fit the bill best.
I absolutely think the RR is a better looking bike. But it didn't fit my needs. I don't race, so I was more concerned with ergo's than styling or the extra performance of the RR. I also had heard that the throttle on the RR is a bit more "touchy" than the F4i. Since I was getting back into riding after a 10 years layoff, I decided the F4i was the better choice. It was far more comfortable to sit on, especially for longer periods. It was more forgiving of rider error. Not to mention that I was able to negotiate a hell of a deal on the F4i that made the price difference quite a bit more than $500. I don't regret my choice at all. If I ever decide to get a more "race ready" bike, I think I'd step up to the 1000RR over the 600. |

OMG, I don't want in the debate
When I first started looking at bikes, the '03 RR had just come out. I sat on both. The F4i was more comfortable. Many dealerships stopped carrying the F4i, so the default choice was the RR. Over time, I became more comfortable with the idea of purchasing the RR. Finances kept me from making a purchase. Then I got a deal on an 2002 F4i and took it. I thought about the RR that I now have the cash to purchase, but think I made a better choice for me. If I go track/race only, then the RR is the winner. |
RE: F4i vs RR
I think they are charging a bit more then they have to for the f4i, so you may be able to get the dealer to give you some lean on it.
I also went for the f4i due to the reviews about it being an overall well balanced bike. I dont regret it one bit, while my friends 636 is fun to drive, i cant do it for more then an hour with out paying for it later. My question is, what sells more the f4i or RR ? that could explain the prices... |
RE: F4i vs RR
I can't answer what bike sells more, but when it comes to aftermarket items, there seem to be a lot more for the RR.
