Default F4I front wheel

First off this is my first post so hello CBR world.

I recently bought a wrecked F4I and am in the process of rebuilding it. I need to get a new front wheel and am wondering if a wheel from a CBR 600rr would work.

The F4I is and 01 and I would be looking at anywhere from 01 to I guess 05? I think in 06 the switched the forks up and I would assume the wheel changed too. I just got a rear wheel from an 05-06 600rr that the honda dealer said should work but they had little advice on the front.

If the front works that will make finding a cheaper wheel easier plus it would be nice if they matched. So will it work?

One rim will work, the other won't. I think its the front that swaps but Im not 100%. I'd assume it would be from the 03-04 as they still had conventional forks.

The honda dealer said if i use my axle that the rear should fit and it looks like it should but still haven't gotten the wheel yet. someone also said it might just be a spacer thing for the front. Anyone done this before?

Dealer didn't mention the 600rr has a 25mm rear axle while the F4i has a 20mm rear axle. This means your wheel bearings and cush drive bearing will not work with a 600rr rear wheel. You you'll have to remove the 600rr rear wheel bearings and use an f4i cush drive (if it'll even work on the 600rr wheel hub) and install f4i specific rear wheel bearings...in this case the are 47mmx20mmx14mm.....the 600rr rear wheel bearings are 47mmx25mmx12mm. Since the 600rr wheel bearings are narrower you'll have to put a 2mm shim behind each bearing in the wheel OR you can add a 2mm collar spacer on your axle...you don't want that wheel moving back and forth on the axle a total of 4mm.

Also, between the wheel bearings in the rear wheel is a collar. The 600rr 25mm ID collar is just a hair shorter than the f4i 20mm ID collar. You'll have to cut the f4i collar down a tad to fit between the bearings in the 600rr wheel

ok well I took off the messed up f4i rear so i have the bearings and the collars and hopefully the cush drive works.

you said i would need to shim the bearings since the rr's are smaller but if I'm using the f4i's doesn't that solve the smaller bearing problem or is it then worse since the f4i ones would stick out of the wheel? this is all with the f4i axle by the way
