f4i buyer help!!
Ok guys I am sure someone's asked this before but I just found a smokin f4i husband/wife split up deal. I just sold my f3, I am going to get the 2002 f4i tomorrow. What should I look for? Any tips/help would be very helpful. thanks
Look for Oil Leaks, smell the fuel to make sure it is fresh, look at the crankcase oil and make sure it is relatively fresh. Simple things will tell you if it is taken care of.
If he'll let you ride it go for it and see how it shifts, etc.....

If you're asking about specific F4i problems, I'd say the cam chain tensioner might be the only thing, but that's not really a problem. I hear people drive for thousands of miles with the problem and they're fine.
Other than that, basic checklist I go through for a used bike: clean title, cleaned/lubed chain, no rust on forks, no scratches on frame, check color of brake fluids/oil and COLD start. Learned from buying my F4i, check that all lights/signals are working, including tag light. I'd check brake pads/tire wear too if the seller didn't mention how far gone they are. The rest is pretty obvious. GL

I'm not too worried about the cct.....I will replace it asap, I will check all fluids, etc, I was just curious if there was any glaring prob's to look for.......ie f3 rectifier style problems.
1 wheels are round
2 frame not bent
3 motor works
4 trany shiftable
the list can go on and on if in dought take it to a bike mechanic and have them look it over.
The Guy should be willing to ride it to one for you(as long as you take care of fee's)
