Default f4i backfires?

i recently installed the o2 sensor eliminator and have a D&D slip-on exhaust. with the D&D i noticed at higher rpm's it will create a popping or backfiring type sound, im talking like 10+rpm and letting the throttle go. is this normal for F4I's? I know with the stock exhaust it didnt do this, but is it normal to change out to a louder exhaust and hear this?

if this is a problem what are the effects on the bike's health? and how to fix? thanks.

Re-map needed. Some here may tell you that it's normal... but it's not.

Yeah, I've heard the sound too, but my bike is sitting for the winter, so I'll see next season.

yep it's lean

lean means it'll rev a little bit faster and may idle a little high
otherwise you'll get the popping sounds, possibly foul plugs if it's bad enough, and your motor will run hotter

aite thanks for the responses, after riding it a bit more and paying closer attention to it, it seems to happen on upshifts when i push it hard and do a quick up shift or during deceleration and i let it engine brake. how would i make it run less lean?

edit: im sure it aint actual backfire with flames and all, its just popping quite a bit

power commander

then download the closest map to the mods on your bike
(not sure if a D&D is one of the maps, but if not just pick another slip on brand and it'll be really close)

Mine backfires to and at night flames bubble out on deceleration. I have a Jardine RT-1 exhaust.
