Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a 2001 F4I, I've found one in good shape at a good price. Is it worth spending a little more and getting a newer one? I hate the banana seat and don't want to do an expensive conversion on a newer one which is why I'm thinking of the 2001.

What are the differences between the 2001, 2004 and 2006 models other than the newer ones have the banana seat?

Nothing, really. Rear section, and very minor change to the side fairings.

06 F4i has the 02 sensor and stuff like all CA models.

Only thing you'd get out of the 04+ is a newer bike and a banana seat. Same tech.

 

Go for the 01-02.

 

Get the 01, you will be happier with that vs the bannana seat. Especially if you give a girl a ride, then she won't slam your nutz into your tank.

 

01 for sure. fuel injection. split seat. blah blah blah. badass ride.

 

Does anyone know if the gas tanks are the same on every year F4i?
