Default RE: extra voltage?

not sure. i know 6 volt batteries get a 7 volt alternator
12 volt batteries need 14v alternator
24 volt batteries need 28v alternator etc

that's how it is on airplanes anyway. i don't do cars or motorcycles very well. [sm=sorry.gif]

if the f4i has a 12 volt battery, i'm guessing 14 volts and, i dunno, 30 amps?

anyone wanna jump in and corret me?

i have measured mine with a voltmeter and it is almost exactly 14. i dont know if it will be for every bike but considering what FLYOU said i would assume so.

It should be around 14Vdc, that's post-regulator though. By itself the stator puts out an (alternating current) 'ac' voltage (hence the correct name 'alternator' to the entire assembly)(if you're trying to measure directly across its terminals) ... and then the effective voltage depends on what you measure, the peak, avg or rms. Most meters do an approximate RMS measurement.

Does the regulator steady the current also? I believe that 3000 rpm is the magic number to charge the battery.

I set up my bikes with heated grips and plug-in for my heated jacket. Would have to look it up agian to be sure, but I believe it's about 100 watts for both. I could switch to HID's get to some back if I need to, but I like to be on the safe side of power draws.
