Default Exhaust questions

Hey guys, i was looking into getting a aftermarket slip-on for my 04 F4i. I just wanted to know if there was anything else i needed to get besides just the pipe? Im not looking for a big performance gain, but i wanna make sure im doing it right.

Most slipons come with everything that you will need.

I know that when you order Yoshimura slip on's they dont tell you that you need a gasket that is not supplied. You might wanna find out if you need 1 before you do the install. I got lucky my old bike was 2 weeks old when I pulled the stock can off so the gasket was new enough to reuse.

Ummmm....you don't need a (stock) exhaust gasket on the F4i for a Yoshimura Slip On (or with most of the slip ons)
It just slides right in and you clamp it down.

I have the RS-3 slip on, and the instructions didn't mention anything about reusing the stock gasket or using any kind of gasket for that matter.
And there is no room whatsoever for the stock gasket to fit on there either....it's a tight fit already.

But like what was said...it's a REALLY REALLY simple install.....takes less than a 1/2 hour and the slip on comes with everything you need to put it on.

Your bike will run fine with just an exhaust upgrade, although maybe a little rich. To maximize performance gains you can also add a hi-flo air filter and a power commander to adjust ignition settings. These other pieces are a more significant investment, and certainly aren't necessary right away. The pipe is a good place to start.

EXACTLY!!

Then when you get bored with the bike or it feels "slow" to you, then add the Power Commander to make it faster & fun to ride again

Ahh sorry I never put a slip on on a honda before, I did 1 on my Suzuki and you needed a gasket that was not supplied, alot of the Suzuki guys have hadd the same problem. I just got my Slip on today for my F4I and I see the difference on the install.

LOL...that happened to me on my Katana
I mangled the factory gasket only to find out that I needed to reuse it. Had to spend $20 on another one...lol.

Luckily, our bikes (the F4i) aren't like that!
