Just a note from someone who's killed 200mph -- bikes handle way differently at speed. The difference between 150 and 120 is very noticeable. From 150 up it's like a geometric progression -- gets much harder to control. Gyro effect of all your rotating mass plus Newton's first law are, as Tahoe would say, a mawfaki.

My most humble advice for any would be speedfreaks is to ease into the high numbers. Do the hard turns and quick braking at 130. Then try 140 and so on. Even with the best brakes on the planet the 1000RR takes forever to slow down from big speed and if you've got it set up for handling the ***-end will wiggle like jell-o upon ludicrous braking.

Let's all be careful out there ...

260 km/hr was the fastest Ive done, but I had to let the throttle go due to nearby corner. Dont know how much it equates in miles. When I did it the first I was "holy !@#!@#" Doing it the 2 3 4th time, you get used to it, though it is still scary.

Kinna off subject but anyone catch "Stuntjunkies" on Discovery last night?

Kane Friesen pulled a 137 mph stoppie on a ZX10R. Pretty wild thinking about grabbing that much brake that fast. They had Race Tech build the forks specially for the stunt.

Ya, I stayed up for that. I'm not ready for a stoppie at any speed so I thought that was pretty crazy.

2 big things that would kill me if i got picked off, the huge insurance raise and getting my bike impounded. ive heard horror stories galore about impounded bikes returned destroyed.
one bad one ive heard, the guy was sitting in the cop car and sees his bike get layed down on flatbed towtruck. uhh thats just sickening[:'(]

182mph is my fastest on a long concrete four lane highway with no roads, driveways, or cars. It was wide open around noon. I had to let off though because there was a hill I couldnt see over the top of. Makes me wonder what an 04 1000rr will top out at.

That's a hell of a speedo error. You may need to get that checked out.

Find a dyno and run it up to that. I think you are going to find that it's quite a bit off. 160ish is about tops for these bikes with a flyweight pilot on board without some major power adders.

So far the fastest I've been on this bike is 189km/h (according to the speedo).
