Engine Trouble
I have 2006 CBR600F4i. Everytime that I had my serviced, the mechanics said that the bike was in great shape. Approximately 1000 miles after my 16K service, my bike started make a stange noise. It sounded as if something was loose in the engine. I thought that I was having timing issues, but it turned out to be 2 failed rod bearings. Honda recommended replacing the impacted rods, pistons and crankshaft. I decided to replace the engine rather than attempting to fix it.
How likely is it for something to like this to happen with only 17K miles on the bike. Also after having a clean bill of health during my 16K service? Could an error in the the service of a bike cause this type of damage?
After the replacement, my engine sounds better than it did prior to the start of the strange noise. The bike also seems to shift easier.
What do you guys think?

I mean, if you're looking for someone to blame, there's nothing nobody can do to stop you. Sometimes, as it turns out, these things happen. I can't imagine any "routine" service causing a rod bearing fail, however.
There are F4i's out there that have over 200,000 miles on it (well, just one I suppose) so the longevity of the machine with proper maintenance is not on debate.
It is unusual for a 17k motor, though.
