Default Electrical system question

So yesterday my battery died and I'm not exactly sure why, pulled it off charged it and put it back in this morning. Everything was fine I rode for a bit then came home for an hour or two then when I went out again I was going down the highway doing about 60 and my bike starts to lurch and my FI malfunction light comes on then the bike dies completely. Pull the seat off and the battery connectors are losse so I tighten them up and everything seems fine I ride home with no problems. I don't know much about the electrical system so I have two questions: Is the fuel injection system powered by the battery? and is there any harm that could have been done that I need to have checked out by the dealer? I dont really wanna go out and get stranded cuz I thought I fixed everything and really didn't.

Thanks

Check your charging system. My VFR did that crap when the R/R went out. More than likely it was the loose connections. If it rides fine, don't worry about it. If it does it again, get it looked at.

When the alternator+rectifier+regulator are good, power is drawn from the battery only when the engine's off... i.e. for the initial fuel pump and starter and lights. If your rectifier or regulator is bad THEN the bike won't run for long once started, since the battery will drain pretty fast. If you can ride for half an hour then the battery, rectifier, regulator and alternator are still good.
The battery smooths out the alternator voltage when the bike's running... if the connections come loose, even though the alternator's running the voltage going to the electronics is not smooth. So the bike will die. If it starts back up then the electronics should be just fine.

Loose terminals cause the bike to lurch when you give it gas. Once tightened up ok, there shouldn't be a problem

My R/R was still charging, just not enough to keep the battery up, so I could still ride, but it ran really weird, and when I shut it off it wouldn't start. After cooling down the R/R would start working again and the bike could be bump started.

Those R/R when hot get wacky. That's why they have big cooling fins on them. If you still have problems, I'm afraid yours might be cooked my friend. Unfortunately It's a Honda trait to cook RRs. Not many problems with them since about 02 though. Older Hondas did that frequently, or so I've heard.
