Default Ebay HID Kits

Anybody ever use one of those $80-$100 HID Slim kits from Ebay?

If so, what are your impressions or thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I didnt use a ebay one but i got a cheap kit. I got mine from vvme.com for under 100 shipped. I am complety satisfied with it. I always heard you get what you pay for but so far so good. I was behind a benz the other night and couldnt tell whos hids where whos. Had them in for roughly 3 months and using them for 2 and love them. Best mod ever.

For one, it definitely looks better than stock. Light output is much greater, depending on temp. And very small. The bad is that there is a lot of glare and can potentially blind those in front of you. And for the slim kit there are a lot of wires to deal with so finding somewhere to put them might take a little time. But overall it's a good cheap mod. Search, there are a lot of topics like this.

i have the slim ballast kit from ebay on my F4i, i love it, the wires were kind of a pain to hide but so are the bigger ballasts, hands down one of the best mods ive done to my bike, i can see so much better at night with it, im about to pick up a set for my car too.

What about the heat output from the bulbs? Is there any chance of melting the headlight housing? I've heard that the car ones get quite hot.

I'd like to see what people have to say about this http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html
Now, this is obviously only one guy's opinion/collection of data, but from what I read there, most of it makes sense to me. For those who don't plan on reading it all, here's the summary:

"The only safe and legitimate HID retrofit is one that replaces the entire headlamp—that is lens, reflector, bulb...the whole system—with optics designed for HID usage.
"

I'm interested if anyone can say that is wrong, and tell me why.

ive heard this argument many times, im happy with mine either way, and there are plenty of cars that come stock with HID's and no projectors, i bvelieve the older maximas did so if they put them in cars from the factory without projectors they cant be that bad

That's true, but why spend 3x the money and time for an almost identical appearance? The only difference between the two is that you can get a ticket for HID kits (in California), and there's just a little bit of glare. Besides that, doing a retrofit will just look a little cleaner with a straight cut off line. Kits are just a cheaper alternative and better than stock. Matter of personal preference and budget.
