What is the peg sprocket? The bike was dropped at a very low speed on the left side. Scraped the ferring and broke the mirror. .

How much slack should be in the chain? If the chain was too tight, wouldn't the extra weight of a passenger on the back cause the chain to tighten up even more, and make the grinding worse? When I have a rider on the back, the grinding goes away completely.

Just an update. rd91si, you were correct. The chain was too tight. Just a slight adjustment, andnot it shiftsperfect. No more grinding! THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

Yeah, a little over 1 inch is what you want. To be on the safe side, you might want to change out your chain and sprokets... a good time to do a 520 conversion.. It's super easy to do yourself if you have the right tools, a stand, and get a kit.
