Default does this sound sketchy??

I have been riding since june, and put over 3000 miles on my bike this summer including a trip to the Deals Gap TN area. When i bought my bike, i kinda settled because i wanted to get riding right away. Don't get me wrong i love the F4i but i have lways wanted an RR. I found this guy on graigs list with this story...

"I recently purchased a 2004 600rr with under 5K on it, expecting to do some track days. Long story short, track days aren't going to happen so the "rr" is wasted on me! I'd consider swapping it with someone with an 2005 F4i who is looking for something a bit quicker and edgier. These two bikes, according to Kelly blue book, have virtually the same value. My rr is in beautiful condition and all stock except for a Jardine slip-on. Pics and other info available if requested"

I told him i had an '04 basically stock with 8K on it and was posibly interested. Can anyone figre out why i should be weary about this??

i dont know about being jumped but take them for a second opinion. may be they'll pick up on something that you might miss.
anyway, this sounds like a pretty straight forward deal.

Momma always said, "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".

+1. I don't think this is that bad of a deal either. As always, be careful when dealing with anything used.

Yea, i would definately have second and third oppinions with me. Anyway, he e-mailed me back this morning and said he is on Vacation till friday so no pics yet, but someone already contacted him with an 06 opposed to my 04, with 1700 vs my 8000. so obviously that guy has first dibs, but he didn;t say not a chance so i'm staying optimistic.

That's a shady way of doing business. First come, first served, unless he is running an auction. Even then, I would see it as a blessing in disguise, why trade a perfectly good bike for one you really have no idea of it's history? I went with a guy to check over a potential bike and even though it looked cherry, there were signs of abuse and plain ignorance. Best to have an impartial third party look it over if you do decide to purchase.

The guy with the other F4i DID get to him first, so it is first come first served. i may not have been clear with that so my bad.

No further word from the guy with the RR so who knows at this point
