Do new tires have less traction???

i use a trick that my dad told me about. back in the 60's and 70's when he drag raced and the only tires available were bias plies, he used to rough the tire up with any course sandpaper and a sanding block. this got the shine off and was equivalent to riding for a few miles. worked for him and i tried it and it seemed to work for me.
What grade paper did you use?
i have no idea what grade it was but it was really rough. probably around 100 or so.

you guys dont need to use sand paper, use some steel wool and hot water and hit up the tires surface and you'll have instant traction. All the guys out here use steal wool not sand paper!

the last time i had a new tire put on i just rode oaa that stuff off....

Good idea. I'll try it when I get my new tires in March.
