Did I fill up too much oil?
Came back after a ride on sunday and with the bike on the kick stand, could see no oil in the oil window.
Held the bike upright and still saw no oil in the window.
Bike was running fine, no warning lights were on.
So I decided to top up the oil.
I read on some forums that if its on the kick stand, fill up till the lower mark.
So I put in a quart, still see no oil in the window while on the kick stand.
But with the bike upright, the oil level is above the top of the window, not just the top mark.
Do I need to drain some oil?

Thanks for the replies, I am a little over the glass window not way over, but I will correct it instead of taking chances.
Just curious, how long before I see smoke coming out of the exhaust?
I started the engine after the overfill for a few minutes and did not see any smoke or malfunction lights.
Does the drain use a crush washer or a standard one?
If its a crush type then I'd better siphon it.

Im confused about your smokequestion but from what im gathering, you dont have smoke nor FI lights bc theres nothing wrong
The oil pan washer is an aluminum crush washer...for future reference, it should be replaced every oil change
Thanks 600F4inoober, very much appreciated.
I read that if there's too much oil then there should be smoke from the exhaust, thats what I meant by my smoke question.
Hmm... Crush type, so that means if I loosen it to drain the oil and then tighten it again, I may end up with a leak if the washer doesnt sit in place correctly again.
I will just siphon off a little, thanks again.

Hi all, new poster here. I've had my CBR600f4i (2004) for 5-6 years now. just serviced it again but this time i wasnt checking the oil window as i filled it up. I had exactly 3 litres measured out, but stopped to check the window at about 2.7 litres. it looks full, not just at the top line, over it, i cant even see the level. I've drained out about another quarter of a litre with someone watching the window this time, but still no sign of the level. anyone encountered this before. and before you ask, yes i have replaced the filter and i did run her and let her settle before checking again and no warning lights are showing. The manual states 3.3 litres and unless my wife wife's measuring jug (yeah she's not happy) is wrong, i've put in about 2.5. any ideas, gang? this was the only thread i could find related to my mistake.
