Default Did I break my ONE WEEK OLD fork seal!!?

I was going over a hill in 2nd gear "where I'm usually in 3rd or 4th" on the way home, the front end came waay up and I engine braked it back down by just letting go of the throttle. It totally surprised me so I didn't let it down gently and there was a tiny bit of oil around the top of my fork seal, probably just a few drops, just enough to look a little wet Is it broke or did I just force a little out??

And yes, I'm a fȕcking idiot...

This is the first bump this fork seal has had btw. Is it normal to break one on the first bump?

Not necessarily. Could be some crud left over on the tube, or a ding somewhere near the top of the stroke where you usually don't travel where some oil got out. Keep an eye on it and don't sweat it yet.

Under normal circumstances, there is no real 'break in' period for seals. They should seal 100% from the get go.

Agree, give it a wipe and keep an eye on it. I had a weep about a week after rebuild but it came good.
