Dealership idiot?
I was in the dealership yesterday talking to one of the salesmen about the 600rr versus the F4i. And ive read that the RR isnt much of a power increase as it is a handling increase. And the guy told me that there is a significant power increase over the F4i. Is this guy just an idiot or did honda really up the power in 2006? i mean i wanted to upgrade to a liter bike only because i want something bigger cause im a pretty big guy but, if the power is pretty substantial in 2006 then i might have to look at the 600rr.
I've seen an F4 dyno at 101 with a hindle... but that's the exception.
I'd say the the RR is leaps and bounds ahead of the f4i in the right hands... in terms of raw street power maybe not.
As for whether you'd be satisfied... I doubt it. Me? hell ya... although I'm more than happy with my F4.
IIRC the F4i has more power in the lower RPM's. That is one of the reasons it's still the best of the 600's for the street.
If you are going to track it and not spend extended time in the saddle, then the 600rr is the hands down winner. IF you set it up correctly and know how to use it.
I have felt the allure of the 600rr. The USD forks and radial brakes. That sexy little tail, but I keep coming back to my F4i because I know that if I get serious about it, for less cash I can set mine up to be a track tool greater than a stock 600rr.
BTW, dealers rarely know what the hell they are talking about outside of the sales brochures. I am pretty sure that the sales comission on the 600rr's is higher than the F4i. More than once I have almost vomited when I heard a "sales dude" tell a n00b that a 'busa or a GSXR1K is FINE for a beginner because they won't need to upgrade later. I always want to tell them the reason they won't need to upgrade is it is unlikely that they will live to need another bike.

THEN you say "so whats the power output on this thing?" he says "110" then so say "at what rpm?" THEN HE LEAVES!!!! simply ask him a question he cant answer!

It never pays to be a jackass
I dont even bother talkin to them unless i see something i am actually going to buy. Otherwise i just say that Im just looking.
I had a guy tell me that no one ever needed a 1000cc bike and i looked at him and i was like " ummm i do" I'd just like to know I have the power when i need it because i am to used to the 600s. he just kinda looked at me and shut up.
Another guy said that only RR's came with 2 seats in the 600 class and i was like ummm, my 02 F4i has 2 seats and i told him the years that had 2 and when they switched to one and when they changed it from carburated to fuel injected. He again just starred at me like, "ummmm, yea thats right"
Most dont know much of anything.
