Default damn battery

lol well this past weekend i completed the MSF course and can actually drive legally now. So i went to pick up my bike that was being stored at my moms house and guess what she was dead. lol well i tried jump starting it and of course she wouldnt, she was all the way dead.decided to go with my mom to get her car inspected and she said she would buy me a battery tender. So we went advanced auto and sure enough they had one for jet skis and motorcycles. it charges and maintains the battery so hopefully tommorrow it will remain nice and i can actually ride legal for once.

If it's completely dead, you may want to save a few coins and get a new battery soon. Even with the charger, this one's on it's way out.

Just a note for you, if you jump it from a car battery, make sure the car is not running. Just hook up the cables and try to turn it over. But if its completely dead, I recommend a new battery.

At first, I thought you meant your mom was dead. Anyways, my battery died on me before and, long story short, I had to walk it for 1/2 mile. I wouldn't recommend jump starting it with a car either. Just trickle charge it.

FF, good job on explaining that you bike died......

Delv, check it. Why did you end up walk for .5 miles? Did you try to run start the bike?
FF, you should try this next time if the battery goes low on juice. Pop the bike into first, press the clutch in. Then run with the bike at try to push it up to 10mph. After you picked up some speed, let go of the clutch and you should feel like the rear is locking up and then it should spin. It will kick start the alternator and your bike will start up on a somewhat dead battery.
Remember, ignition on, kill switch on, 1st gear, clutch in, run like you stole something, let go of clutch.

good advise just make sure not to be holding the throttle open or something when u try to push start it or once it turns over it will probably take off and u will both most likely fall

I dont know if you ever done this before but you dont need to touch the throttle nor the starter. If you dont believe me then try this. In a parking lot, from whatever speed you want roll up to 10 mph, press the clutch in and toggle the kill switch back and forth. Now that you are rolling with the engine dead, and key is "on", kill switch on, let the clutch go and your bike will try to stall but most likely will start up the bike. No need for throttle nor starter.

i thought the best gear to do this in was 2nd, i realise its different for everybike really, but this is in the f4i section... i have never done this myself, but i do believe the best gear to push start an f4i to be 2nd.
