cw fender eliminator fitting
Hello everybody,
I just installed my cw fender eliminator kit and everything was ok except for the fitment which was not entirely what I had expected. The taillight is not exactly in the proper position - it's positioned a little towards the front of the bike (maybe 1/2 - 1/3") - that's with the taillight holder clamps extended to the max towards the back (they have oval bolt holes). Also, to fit the fairing back on I had to force it a little over the metal plate, and this is only after I bent the edges of the cw kit a little upwards. I'm worried because the whole plastic piece seems to be a little under tension. Is this normal or did I do something wrong?
Thanks!
D.

well...you did most of the cutting to install it...so it wouldn't be their fault as far as fitment.
it is a pita to get it on just right. your light is more recessed than before, but compared to OEM...it looks 98.7% better! sounds like you may have cut a bit too much tail off if it's in way too much.
as for getting the fairing back on, you have to put one side on then bend the otherside over the FE. it'll be some while before the fairing cracks or explodes so just take your time. the fairing should go over the FE and there shouldn't be any tensino.

i dunno if cutting too much can push the fe too much towards the front of the bike as it does come with two brackets which get bolted to the metal subframe which are somewhat fixed... im thinking maybe i need to sand the bottom of the plastic tray a little to push the fe a little more upward - which would release the tension in the fairing. that still leaves the taillight pushed a little in though.
i'll post some pics soon. and i agree... it does look way better than before, not to mention that my licence plate and taillight are no longer rattling from being fixed to what used to be my f*cked up broken fender chopped by the dumbass previous owner.
