Default Cut Yoshi RS3 into Shorty... Pros and Cons?

I am more than likely going to cut about 6-8" off my RS3 pipe on my f4i. I think it will clean the bike up a bit and Im hoping it will make it sound slightly more aggressive.

Can you guys tell me your thoughts on the pros and cons of doing this?

I do have a PCIII USB and plan on getting a custom map after cutting the pipe.

Im curious to hear your thoughts. Also I came across a how to guild somewhere but cant seem to find it now. I dont need it but if anyone can post it for reference that would be helpful.

Also after hearing everyones thoughts on this, I will post pictures and a video of mine for comments. Thanks

i think its sick who has a write up on how to do this... its not a overly complicated job...

as for pros cons

your bike will be louder... some say thats a pro some say its a con....

you will loose some back pressure... some will say thats a pro lol or a con...

you will prolly loose some torque... thats just a con....

but all said and done im sure you will by happy with the new tone.... that a pro for sure...

if your doing to do this and have the can apart.. wouldnt hurt to change the packing while ur at it too... give you a deeper tone as well...

Making a shorty pipe isn't hard at all. It took me about an hour total to cut it and rivet the endcap back on. I honestly didn't do it for looks rather I had a nasty crash at the race track and broke the can and making it shorter was an easy way on not buying a new one. It wasn't until after I cut mine I started seeing a bunch of people doing too as a "cool" look.

Anyways, the bike did get louder as other people have noted but I didn't really notice a need to remap, the bike felt the same with a shorter exhaust.

Thanks for the replies guys. I really appreciate the comments and the links. It was your thread Sick that I saw previous but couldn't remember which forum I came saw it on.

If I were to replace the packing with something else, What would give it the best tone as far as a low deep rumble?

Any packing is fine, I repacked my Akrapovic with some Vance and Hines packing, it all depends on how tight you pack it, the tighter it is the quieter / lower your rumble, the looser the louder
