Default Crap on Headlights - Recommendations on Removal?

Hey All

So I'm in the process of cleaning up the bike, and redoing the fairings, etc etc. I'm about to add a hid kit, but noticed that I have some crap on my headlights. This was on the bike when I bought it from the seller and thought I could get it off no problem, but I am having some difficulties. I have tried bug and tar remover, as well as rubbing compound. Both did nothing. I have not idea what this is, or how else I could get it off the headlight housings. Any recommendations?

Is it on the surface? Can you feel it? Inside/outside of headlight?

Its on the outside surface. I can feel it - it has a raised feeling to it kinda like dried leftover tape or something.

Try heating it up with a heat gun or blow dryer and see if you can scrape it off

be careful what you use on the lens; cleaners that break down gunk can also smudge the cover. the rubbing compound would have been my suggestion too (or use toothpaste)

That looks like pine tree sap, it use to fall on my wife's car when she parked it at work. You can try the goo gone or maybe some lens restore. The lens restore is basically like rubbing compound for clear plastic. I have used it to remove all kinds of stuff even helps buff out some dulled painted plastics.

PS. Just saw you were in GA, its most definitely sap, I use to live in Tallahassee.

Maybe try dipping a towel in white vinegar and soaking it in for some time?
