Default could this be the cct?

my friend just got a 01 cbr f4i with 7400 miles on it.
everything sounds/looks good except after you put it in gear and are actually moving there is a decently loud rattling sound.
i know the cct's rattle when they start to go bad, (mine is doing it at 4500 - 5000 rpms) but this one does it at all rpms when your moving.... if youre sittin still in neutral or in first (but not moving) it doesnt make the sound.

his gears also make a little more of a clicky sound than mine. this could be unrelated, but if it is, does anyone know what may cause this, or what you can do to make it more smooth, like mine. i figured if he changed the oil that may help but any other tips will be appreciated.
thanks.

does it make the "noise" when rolling in neutral.

What about when he holds the throttle at 5-6k at idle in neutral? In gear?

It doesn't sound like his CCT is at fault here.

thats what i was afraid of.
ill try the stuff you said tho just to be sure. so if it makes the noise when i do that stuff you said, then thats a sign of the cct?

Does it make those noises in every gear? Is it possible that it might be low in oil? Idk if that would effect it or not, just brainstorming some ideas. Does it matter what rpm he is riding at? Higher or lower rpms is it worse or the same?

The CCT sound is depended on the RPM, not the speed of the bike, i.e. it will sound even in neutral when speed is 0 if you rev it high enough.

Look for things that depend on the speed of the bike - like the chain, for instance. Is the chain touching anything? Where is the sound coming from?

one thing i thought it may be is the rear tire hugger may be loose and making a rattle sound but idk because it seems like the vibration from idling would be enough to do it too and it didntseem like it was coming from the rearanyway. it sounded like it wascoming up from in front of me while i was riding... but also the cct does really "sound" like it comes from the back either tho.

so its basically a rattling that only happens once you're in gear andmoving, and it does itat all rpms.

next time i go over there ill get on it again and see if it changes at all with the rpms, speed, or gearand ill try the things u guys have suggested, but as far as i remember from the first time i rode it it didnt seem to change, but i also wasnt thinking to take note of it so ill double check next time to make sure.

ive thought maybe oil could have somethin to do with it too because of the "clickyness" i feel when i shift.
thanks for the help so far and keep the ideas coming guys.

ok i went riding with him today, he said it wasnt making the sound anymore, but idk if he knows the sound im talkin about

i did rev it up to 5k rpms and let it sit there when it was in neutral but it never started to rattle.
i didnt get on and ride it tho so i didnt get to try the other stuff out
like i said he doesnt think its doing it and doesnt seem too concerned so i guess if it is somethin serious we'll known soon and if not then i guess it will be fine. lol.

Hmmmm.....well if its running fine. I guess let it run til something actually breaks or needs to be fixed. Maybe its just a bit cold from not being ridden in awhile. But i would keep an eye and ear open, don't want someone getting hurt due to lack of preventive maintenance.
