Default Coolant Reserve Bottle

I just picked up a 01 F4i and noticed the coolant reserve bottle is empty. Can I just add the 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled h20 to fill up the reserve bottle or does it need a complete flush?

Thanks

I had the same thing guys when I got my bike. I call the old owner of the bike and asked him if he had to fill it before. Good thing is the old owner was a good guy and answered my question. Which he did before. So I got into where is the coolant going? I found out where too. The clamp on the radator was not tight enough from factory. So check your hose clamps to solve your coolantproblem.

Just make sure you use the right coolant. Some coolant can harm your waterpump. I'm not sure what coolant the old owner used so I flushed it this season. Just to be sure with honda's coolant. It's not that costly so use it and it premixed.

It wouldn't leave any puddles on the ground. I would get a little mist sometime if the wind was right on my shield of my helmet. Only on my mirror shield could I tell. But I wasn't sure what that was at the time. I hope this help you guys. I haven't had to fill it since. Just a warning too, it doesn't hold much coolant and with the temp the bike runs at. You don't want to be losing any of it.

Remember..according to the manual...you need to check the coolant after bike has been running and is upright.

if you look at it when it is cold and on the sidestand you will not see any coolant and think you are empty

In my opinion... if you can't see any coolant in the expansion tank, I would give some more attention to your cooling system rather than just topping it off.

You need to find out why it's low because it could be anything from a loose hose clamp to a blown gasket.

Also, I wouldn't just throw in a random brand of coolant, flush the system and add good quality, Honda recommended coolant. Or check out water wetter: http://www.redlineoil.com/products_coolant.asp

Hmm...I just added reg premixed anti-freeze to mine a while ago and haven't noticed any problems. Whats the deal with this water-wetter stuff?
