COMP WERKS F/E CABLE LOCK PROBLEM
ok so i have a helmet stuck under my seat. i think the cable came out of it place. thats one of the things i dont like about the comp werks f/e. anyway to get my seat out without taking out my f/e?
yo i have the same bike as you... and i found out how to fix it. since there's a clip where it holds the cable, what i did was i took off the grab bar and where the holes are from the grab bar i used a long flathead screw driver to hold the cable down while i propped open the trunk. after removing the seat what i did was i used needle-nose pliers to pinch the part where it hooks the cable while the cable was already in. thus resulting it not to become loose anymore.... hope that helps man!!! good luck...
thats sounds like a FRICKING GOOD IDEA!!!! thanks man!!! i probably wouldnt have thought of it. wouldnt have thought about taking off the sissy bar. this whole time i was thinking i wasa going to have to un bolt the whole f/e. thanks bro. life saver.
i wanted to do a write up on the comp werks f/e but id like to say a few stuff about them here...
instructions arent as detailed as i thought it would be. would have been nice to know exactly how much to hack off. that was the one that took me like 3 hours to do. trying to be **** and doing it little by little. instructions does not state to put the c clip back onto the cable lock itself, therefore, me having to remove of it was just frustrating. i mean, its not hard but i just dont like to go back to re-do something when im going through the process step by step. pictures were a little blurry and would of helped to have a few more pictures of other steps. but pics were VERY helpful for me. it also doesnt tell you where to run signal wires through. i think they are supposed to run between the main plate and the black plastic that are bolted together. but i didnt cut enough by the time i had everything on so i drilled a hole big enough to run both wires right next to the cable lock assembly. total time took me was from 1pm to about 9ish. thats including breaks and going to dinner. not to mention it started to rain while i was hacking away at the fender. then rained throughtout the rest of the install. i was under a roof but thewind was blowing hard so bike and i got soaked. i just placed a towel over the wires and fuses..
anyway, took me a long time to decide which f/e or undertail to go with then finally opted for the cw. overall nice appearence but better instructions is a must..
oodayvidoo, when trying to plug in your signal lights, did you have a hard time due to the wires running a little short?

f**k yeah... i just yanked on them as much as they can go and i finally put them on. mine was a bitch to do also... started @ 11am to 5pm. call that a piece of ****!!! and i only took one smoke break. i just hated the hacking and slashing part of it. other than that it was easy...

Guys,
Have the same exact bike as you all and installed the c/w f/e as well. It was a pain in the *** and the way the directions are written do not flow in any order whatsoever. The signal wires are short as hell. Best thing to do honestly is remove the rear fairing (they don't tell you to do that). Scraped my knuckles installing some quick disconnects to the honda wires so if I have to undue anything, I just unplug them.
