yep,i have white ones on there already but want to add a purple set, only thing is the purple is a uv color and doesn't look that bright. anyone seen how bright the electropod set is?
You can get purple LEDs or you could get purple CCTs. Unfortunately purple is such a short wavelength that they are always going to be lower output that other colors. Of the reputable LED manufacturers I know of, the best (brightest) purple LEDs come from Lumex. They only make them in one size, the standard 5mm round variety. The part number is SSL-LX5093VC. They are sold out of them but other retailers show them in stock for $.75-1.15/each.
Edit: Cold Cathodes would provide better coverage of light but then you have to deal with the crappy transformers that come with the sets that are readily available.
Edit II:You might be able to fashion something with super bright leds and then a purple lens but you still would be getting weak output. I love problems like this. I wish I still talked to my optical engineering buddy she could tell me the best way to go about this.
