Default Changing out the CCTL....

Well the weather is cooperating &I'm finally gonna change out my CCTL tomorrow (with a new, modded one)

2 things....

1. Does the oil gotta be out of the engine?

2. On one of the writeups for it, it said you gotta be at TDC (top dead center)....that true??
If so, how do you do that?

thanks guys!

You are talking about the Cam chain tensioner right? What is the L? I changed the CCT and I didn't do anythign but remove parts, no oil or TDC.

Oh....I didn't think you needed to drain the oil, but it doesn't hurt to make sure

And someone had a linkto the cbrworld tutorial on how to do it & a link to the bay area riders forum and someone on there mentioned to have it at TDC.......didn't think I needed to do that either, but again just wanted to make sure

Oh, and CCTL is the Cam Chain Tensioner Lifter.....that's the correct term for the "CCT"

i would say the most important thing is to make sure the engine doesnt rotate on you.

I did it this past weekend....it was really simple

The only hard part is that there isn't much room to work in there & getting the bolts back in

But it only took like30 minutes total

The rattle is gone (for now)
