Default chain slack adjuster question?

everytime before i go ride i check my chain slack and make sure the 8 mm adjuters turn freely in both directions. everytime i get back from a ride my sprocket side adjuster is tight as hell. i have to turn it with a 1/4 inch wratchet (clockwise) to loosen again, but the brake side adjuster is just as checked it before the ride. does anybody know what the hell is causing this? BTW, my axle is torqued properly to 69 ft/lbs. does this happen to anyone else? i'm freakin clueless? thanks[sm=WTFsgign.gif]

mine don't turn at all...so yours must be uber loose...
your chain may still be aligned, but the vibration caused the bolt to turn outwards, making it tight.
but they shouldn't be that loose to begin with.

So I don't get it.....why are you surprised that the adjusters are loose if you're not tightening them down in the first place??????? Were you expecting them to tighten on their own?????

Generally, its good practice to tighten them down.

you got me wrong guys. the adjusters are loose when i leave for a ride and when i get back the sprocket side one has tightened up counter-clockwise. the brake side is stil loose like before the ride? what could cause this? the axle is torqued to 69 ft/lbs so theoretically the adjusters shouldn't move. once again only the sprocket side tightens up counter-clockwise. i have to use a 1/4" wratchet (turning clockwise)to loosen it. it gets really tight and i'm worried the adjuster threads in the swingarm are gonna get messed up. how tough are the adjusting threads in the swingarm anyway? thanks guys[&:]any ideas?

the RR has 83...F4i is 69 (or 67...)

when you come back from the ride, turn your adjuster bolts all the way in and then all the way back out until it's snug so that it won't move. both should be very close in the amount of turns if not dead on. i think it's the vibration causing on side to backout until it's tight and your rear is still aligned.

thanks Tahoe. so what your sayin is too back (turn counter-clockwise)out the adjusting bolts until finger tight after adjusting the chain and tightening the axle nut. also, do the adjuster bolts just thread into the aluminum swingarm or is there a sleeve of some sort to protect the aluminum swingarm. it seems like repeatedly adjusting the chain over time could possibly wear outaluminum threads in the swingarm if thats how its set-up. maybe not?[&:]
