if i push up on the chain right now it can touch the chain slider, but when i measure the slack with a ruler its about 7/8" inch of slack or so. my bike only has 500 miles on it so i would think the chain is gonna stretch some more. should i just leave the chain adjusted like it is (7/8") or readjust it for more slack? thanks

If you are getting 7/8 in one direction, then you are on the high side of acceptable slack.
If you only have 500 miles the chain should not have streched at all. I have about 4-5K on this chain (DID525X-ring) and I haven't had to adjust it.
Also make sure you are mesuring in the middle (between the sprockets).

don't chains stretch the most most when thier new? also , i'm measuring on the lower chain rung centered between the two sprockets as per the manual states and its comin out to 7/8" overall slack. if the chain can touch the swingarm slider then maybe i'm not pushing the chain hard enough in either direction to get the correct measurement?

If you are only getting 7/8 your chain is way too tight.
If you are running it too tight the chain will stretch prematurely and you will wear on the sprockets more. Worse than that, you will lose power from friction.
I just went out and checked mine. If I push up on the chain at the front of the swingarm it will lay against the chain guide. That is fine. It's not going to run aginst the guide because under acceleration the chain is being pulled on over the top of the swingarm PLUS the swingarm is extending downward.
