the bel-ray stuff works great (no fling) but it turns the chain white where you spray it. I use wd40 on the gold face plates to get rid of the white residue.

I use the Dupont. Haven't had any major problems with flinging. Granted, it happens a little, but just a few spots that can be wiped off my lower fairing by the kickstand. Nothing major. I figure the fact that we're even lubing our chains at all means we're taking better care of our bikes than a lot of people do.

You know your chain needs lubed when you start to hear that noise like metal clicking metal, the teeth feeding into the chain.

WD40 is not bad for a chain?

+1 on the Dupont dry wax. Goes on clear, no mess.

yeah wd-40 is bad to use on the chain, it will dry out and destroy the O-Ring seals on the chain.

The use of WD40 is controversial but it will not eat away the o-rings. I use it to clean the face plates of my chain, not to lube it. I use diesel to clean my chain and both diesel and WD40 work extremely well.
