Ride Safe!

Vince-Please read this entire thread, It will answer a lot of your questions. You stated that you ordered a "new one"...well I hope you ordered the correct part as it is the CCTL not the CCT..It is the Lifter..and the latest auto version is the J24..You needed to buy the gasket for it as well...If you install it correctly, nothing will be "messed up" except for your head thinking that it was normal to ride with that annoying chatter for so long...On the auto CCTL's, just install and pull the pin and your good to go..dont pull the pin earlier.

take off side fairings
take off ram air covers
loosen bolts on gas tank and lift tank (use something to prop it up)
get the correct tools (see previous pages of this thread)
take your time
dont drop small pieces
its 2 screws
swap out...swap in with gasket and pull pin
reassemble

after shipping charges, cheapcycleparts was actually cheaper then servicehonda. just an fyi for anyone ordering. anyways, just ordered it and i'll let ya know how it goes.

Your CCTL (Cam chain tensioner LIFTER) needs replacing. I too have an 01 with low miles and the stock CCTL's are just faulty (well the lifter tips chatter)..happens on all years even the older F3/F4's! It will not affect performance but is more of an annoyance than anything..change it out you will be grateful...mine humm's now Read the thread...either buy the automatic OEM version or go with a manual one..bc it seems you don't have patience (going off that you have noticed you have an issue with your bike but don't want to read the thread to figure out the fix..just my observation) I suggest you take it to Honda and have them do it for ~$150-200

i payed 75 bucks for the oem tensioner and gasket. MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT PULL THE PIN ON THE TOP OF THE TENSIONER TILL ITS INSTALLED. its really not a hard project if you have the right tools and small hands. Not much space to work in.

Is there an easy way to tell if mines been done already? I've never heard what you're all describing on my '05 F4i but I bought it with 15,000km on it already. I know I've put at least 7,000km on it since I bought it this Spring but still, all's well....
