Buying fairings off Ebay?

My son crashed his 2002 F4i on Friday. He's fine, couple of bruises.

But the bike is a different story.

All of the plastics up front are gone. Both side fairings, top, windshield, fender, headlights, all done in.

Spent the weekend looking for all the parts and came across ads on Ebay for complete fairings. They are Chinese copies and come painted.

Ones like that.

Anyone ever bought one? How good/bad are they for fit and finish?

Its either this or we are parting it out for what ever we get.

ur best will be

delkevic

and

auctmarts

only two brands most will suggest

kirkjames90 10-25-2010 10:19 AM

I ordered from auctmarts. Should be here this week id recommend them the communication is great.

I had a friend order from delkevic also and the parts were great quality.

bigboi18184 10-25-2010 03:02 PM

i Ordered a tail section unpainted from delkevic this weekend. I hear good things about them and am hoping the fit is good.

Krux 11-16-2010 06:09 PM

Any update with pictures on the items you guys received?

bigboi18184 11-16-2010 06:38 PM

Use the search button, type in delkevic fairing review and theirs is a whole review on their fairings on the first or second page......type in china fairing review look through a page or two and theirs an entire review on those as well.

The search button is the fastest way to find answers to questions that have been asked a million time before. Like the fairing question that's popping more and more.

Krux 11-16-2010 08:19 PM

Excatly but a company's quality can fall at times. I am just making sure there still high quailty today. In most search buttons people would say delkevic is a good company. When I seen photo's of one members I thought it came out rough shape when it was shipped.

joeroberts 11-17-2010 07:38 AM

@krux as you can see in My sig I have replaced My front cowl and It is a Delkevic
I got nothing But good to say about it.

SEEYA7 11-17-2010 08:44 AM

Yeah Man! I orderd a part from delcevic on ebay. Good fit and Quality. Just check the reputation and customers reveiws. I've orderd many chinese parts and all fit well...Can't beat the price!

NateDieselF4i 11-17-2010 08:46 PM

I have yet to see a negative review of Delv on here. I'm sure they're out there, but it seems mostly positive. I think I would go with them if I ever was to get an aftermarket set of fairings.

They have a nice website too.

lol. compare to $600-800 for OEM plastics and tell me $180 is 'spendy'.

bigboi18184 11-18-2010 11:22 AM

Only thing they should work on is on the quickness of getting them to you. Still faster than the china fairings that take upwards of a month to get. Got my delkevic fairings in about 13 business days from the day i ordered, which isnt bad.

hites87 11-18-2010 04:34 PM

ok so in my experiance with ebay i got abs plastics they werent bad i had to ream out holes but it worked got lots of comments and the looked good

random944 11-18-2010 05:26 PM

ABS ebay plastics are JUNK. PERIOD. Nothing fits, everything is wrong, colors are off from part to part, they are missing tabs, the tabs that are there are glued on and break, the plastics crack, can't be painted, and sunfade in a year. They simply FALL APART.

junk junk junk.

some guy in the US is making afordable plastic, I have one of his tails, but I have NO idea who he is are where he is at. My supplier will not tell me. grrrrr.

So who are you going through to buy the plastics from?

Johnny Ocalypse 12-01-2010 11:26 PM

Krux: I'm going through an almost identical transformation with my 02 F4i. I haven't officially ordered anything yet, but I've spoken with Delkevic on the phone and email several times trying to line up what I want and I'm impressed with them. Several guys at the shops around Atlanta seem to think highly of them also. I am going to go with them. All but Random944 has recommended them (It might be that he has had bad experience with a separate Hong Kong fairing company though). I'm subscribing to this thread. I'll also post the pics of the fairings once they arrive and are on the bike.

breethwithme 12-01-2010 11:53 PM

the ebay plastics are alright for the price they do fit decent and do look good some are diferant than others though my sportbike mag says that {www.myfairings.com} and {www.nicecycle.com} has the best fairings and at painted, custom or stock styles at good prices

breethwithme 12-02-2010 12:05 AM

www.myfairings.com ....... www.nicecycle.com........... they got your fairing fix

NateDieselF4i 12-02-2010 07:07 AM

No, nothing yet.

Likely will be ordering in the new year. The bike has some frame damage as well and I need time to get it taken apart and into a welding shop for the repair. Going to have the forks inspected at the same time.

Once I know these parts are reusable then I'll order the fairings and headlight assembly.

Thanks for all the responses.

bowflexmaverick 12-26-2010 10:32 PM

I have purchased a kit off ebay from Auctmarts1 on November 21st. Haven't received the fairing kit yet... Communication is great from Auctmarts, but its strange that it's taking so long for the fairing to get here. Once I receive fairing I'll let you guys know about fit and quality of the finish.

Johnny Ocalypse 12-27-2010 02:04 PM

Any of you guys know of a good heat shield to put in these new fairings?

I ordered a headlight assembly and fairing kit from Auctmarts 2 weeks ago.

Headlight came 2 days ago. They say fairing has been shipped as of the end of last week.

Frame is back from repair. I'm starting to collect the rest of the parts and hope to start reassembly next week.

I'd like to know about some heat shielding as well.

R Dub 01-20-2011 03:45 PM

When I put new fairings on my bike I bought the OEM foam and put it on. Installation is super easy because every piece is already cut so you just peel off the paper and slap it on there. I have had no issues with heat getting to the fairings. Happy I went OEM.

bowflexmaverick 01-21-2011 12:59 PM

Sorry I haven't kept you posted, but I received my fairing probably on january 4th. So it was quite a long time. As for heat shielding, I went with this route on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0442&viewitem=

For installation I just needed to cut it all out to fit and it wasn't too terrible, it stuck well and seemed pretty good quality for a lot cheaper than the OEM foam.

nowensby 01-21-2011 01:21 PM

http://www.delkevic.us/

Is this the right place? Shipping is a bit cheaper if you buy directly from the website...

LizzardKing 01-21-2011 01:55 PM

Fairings

Glad you didn't make a spontanious spend yet. I bought mine off of ebay. It was a full set, but the front fender was for a newer model. Maybe a 05 or something. Maybe the RR model or newer. Anyway I only spent like 250 t0 300 and that was with shipping. It was from an individual from a large shop that found them in a corner or something. They were a little scratched up and the front piece didn't fit, but it was still an amazing deal. It took some sort of plastic epoxy to fix my old tears on mine, but it looks like new. Ill do the same favor for anyone on this site... GL man. Keep searching!

Do you have any pics of the fairings installed? How was the fit? How much modification did it take to get them on?

bowflexmaverick 01-21-2011 05:04 PM

Yeah sure thing, here is some pics,

Fitment was pretty good overall, I only had to drill one hole a little bigger for screw to fit. But basically no modifications, it turned out really well and didn't take too much time.

Wow! Looks great man! I'm jealous haha, congrats.

bowflexmaverick 01-23-2011 06:34 PM

Thanks! It has taken a long time to get it like that. I really wish I would've taken before and afters of it...

Dragondima 01-24-2011 07:41 AM

I think my biggest concern is durability, and long term quality. Everyone talks about having it for a year, and it still looks great. I'm wondering how it looks after 5 years. I've bought ebay items that were very cheap, and did the job that was needled, but those items ability to survive was very poor. Anyone on here have Delkevic for over a year and still happy with them? Also, any people buy these guys on sale or anything like that? I have to be the penny pincher, but if i can find things for a better deal, i'm willing to wait.

Dragondima: I JUST installed the Delkevic fairings on my F4i (02), and they look and line up good, maybe a little tight, but I do question their durability even now. The plastic is no where near as thick as the OEM (which I've opted to also have repaired and painted). I haven't evened turned the bike on since I put them on, and don't plan to until I've put more heat shielding near the headers. I put brand new OEM shields on, but that doesn't offer me enough comfort to ride it yet. Also, the screw holes that match the lower crowl to the front crowl are not the right size for the screw-in mount to fit in (easy fix though).

That being said, they are probably the number 1 or 2 aftermarket you can buy.

Hey Johnny I have Delkevic fairings on my F4i as well and I assure you the durability is great. I put the OEM foam heat shields on it and ran it all season is 90+ degrees without 1 single problem.

nowensby 01-27-2011 02:49 PM

Thinking about ordering Delkevic's... did they come with a hole drilled for a frame slider?

kerosene 01-27-2011 02:52 PM

Guys you can get OEM plastics in GOOD condition (almost minty) for 650 shipped... why get hongkong when you can do better.

When you say good what we you talking here. Any scratches? Any broken tabs? Will it need new paint?

Can you post a link to where you are finding these?
