Default brake calipers

so heres the story, i recently got some pitbull stands (god i love them) and when the front wheel is off the ground, if you try to spin it, it does 3/4 rotation maybe. Now a buddy has 2 929's and on his race bike his spins rather smoothly, but on the street bike it is the same as mine, at first he thought it was the wheel bearing so he had a new one pressed in. Problem still exists. After taking off the calipers the wheel will spin freely. Which has to mean that the calipers are dragging, now there is no performance loss that i can tell personally but it is somthing i would like to investigate as ill be going to another track day next month and dont want that sitting in the back of my mind.

So can you rebuild the calipers fairly easily? whats involved after the caliper is out?
thx guys

Sounds like a bent rotor, but I really don't know. I'd take it to a shop, they will know.

bent rotor....i never really thought about that too much but the odds of that happening on 2 differnt bikes at the same time..... odds are slim. but noted. how could i eliminate one or the other then.... without having spare rotors around....... i try to do as much as i can to the bike and thusfar have been successfull so id rather stay away from a shop.

it's normal mang...you can spin it like you're on the wheel of fortune and won't get much due to the natural drag of your pads against the rotors. as far as the race bike...does he have race pads on there or street pads? i would think race pads as they do need heat before they start to bite.

no need to rebuild your calipers unless they are leaking from the pistons or between the 2 halves.
