blown up ecu. how to fix this?
Hi,
here's the problem. I wanted to install a spy 5000m alarm system on my CBR 600 f4i from 2006 European model.
I did put the blue start wire (12V) onto the wrong wire... (5v)
this one:
so that didnt work. even worse... the bike doenst start anymore. Everything works. except you dont hear the injection prime before u start.
I dont know what kind of wire this is. (im not that technically) And the guy who helped me was a electrician but he even F#cked up.
So does anybody know how to fix this? Is it fixable with changing the ECU? And if yes, does it matter to what type?
Could it be it damaged more stuff than the ECU? No fuses were blown.
this is my type of ECU:
thanks in advance!

How do you know that the ECU is fried? Have you checked your fuses? I don't know what wire you tapped into, but if you look at a wiring diagram, I'm sure you can see what wire you tried to splice into. Maybe you ruined the connection, maybe you blew a fuse doing so.
I would say that "blowing up your ECU" is unlikely. I'd check every other avenue before replacing the ECU.
It's a euro-bike? Does it have HISS or some equivalent?

THere is tons of threads on here and our competitor you know the blade one about connecting these alarms and (PC3's) that always show some kind of error and work around fore the most part. I am with Con, you should be checking out the connection, check the continutity, check the voltage and etc, its pretty unlikely that you fried the ECU, when the short causes the FUse usually goes, thats what its there for.

That wire is for the 5V reference signal to your various sensors. It's not fused directly, but check the other fuses for the ECM. If you pumped 12V through the ECU circuit that sends OUT 5V, you may be in trouble. I've never done that before, so I don't know for sure. But I do know if you put in power through an out port an other electronics, bad things happen.

I did check the fuses. There are not blown. Its the 5v connection to the ECU that is also connected to the HISS of this bike.
I did had contact with a ecu repairing company today and they sayed it could be that i fried the processors in the ECU by putting 12V on it.
I checked the voltage on the wire and it still gives 5v to the ECU.
My guess is that the problem is in the cpu. Like I sayed all fuses are good. Motorcycle does want to start exept the FI light isnt burning. And you dont hear it prime.

pfff and the thing is.... I even didnt do it myself... my brother-in-law who is an electrician "helped" me with it.
I will send the ECU away to let it be checked. If that is working fine I see no other option to bring the bike to a Honda specialist in Holland somewhere.
There goes the end of the year bonus
