Bike won’t start
Just got this yesterday. Fired right up last night and for the test ride. Now it won’t start. Started for a second taking it off the trailer. Now just turns over. Smells pretty strong of fuel and white smoke is coming out of the exhaust while trying to crack it. I know nothing about bikes. Seller said I can come and get my money back if I wanted.
but I assume you're here because you don't want to bring the bike back.
Personally I think the seller does need a proper story to explain the "instability" in functionality.
However if the seller has a great story why it failed, then it might be worth looking into.
But I would only recommend this if you want to know a lot about bikes and take this as your first education.
A lot of smoke out of the bike usually means that the bike runs way too rich or has a lack of air.
My bike has tiny valves at the throttle bodies which regulate the idle run air.
If these are stuck one might experience the trouble you have.
If the bike was warm when you bought it, the seller was most likely aware of this problem.
He probably also has a workaround.
Have you tried to start the bike by giving it a tiny bit of throttle?
Good luck!

Hi, welcome to the forum,
I think if it was me and new to bikes I would be taking it back for a refund.
One of the main reasons to buy a Honda and in particular the F4i is that generally they are considered to be bullet proof unless someone has abused or messed with them so one that will not start is something to be avoided.
Let us know how you get on.

if I was in your situation I would take up the offer for the money back. Seems rare that a private party seller is willing to do that.
If you’re not mechanically inclined or willing to dump money and time into the bike after you pay for it I would definitely return it. There’s always another bike out there

I spoke with him today. He said he ordered fuel pressure regulator for it. And we would put that on with new plugs if needed Tuesday. As far as working on cars, I’m pretty good there. My c5 corvette I’ve done heads/cam/intake. As far as any knowledge on bikes though, not so much. I only paid 2k for the bike. Other things I’ve found on the bike that don’t work. Blinkers, brake light, and the horn. We talked about that at the time of purchase. I have given it some gas and even full hit. Acts like it wants to kind of start, but no luck.
It's a good sign he is willing to help get it running. I'd say try the new parts and see if it runs - or if he can find out why it isn't starting. Heck, could be somehting simple and know being familiar with bike you may not notice it.
Let us know how it goes!!

Come to find out, the FPR had gone out and fouled up the spark plugs. Changed out the FPR and plugs. No codes, been riding. Changed the oil. Smelled like gas pretty bad. Rode for a few days now, Oil smells normal.
I will say on cold starts, the bike isn’t rev up to 3k like I’ve seen most do. I have to play around with the idle **** to bring up the revs and lower as it warms up. Lower it even more after I rode around some too.
