bike shop/brake question...
do the brakes need to be "bleeded" every time they get replaced with new pads on front and back? some bike shop tech told me that they needed to be "bleeded" every time. i think hes trying to scam ppl outta more $$$.
Bleeding the bakes system is not necessary as long as the system (brake lines or hoses) have not been opened or damaged. The fluid does have a life though. As the bike ages, the fluid becomes contaminated. The more often you change the fluid, the longer you brake system components will last. Bet it isn't a task to be done every time, especially if you are paying big $$$ for someone else to do it. Take my advice... get a factory service manual and save money yourself!
