Default bike with back-fire?...

My friend's 600 has a dead battery. i know that it is possible to jump start a bike by pushing it, switch to first gear with full throttle, and press the ignition. i have done it a couple of times for my 250. but when i did it for the 600, the engine had poping noises kind of like back-fire. I dont think it is anything too serious because my 250 did the same thing when i jump started it, but is it common for it to do that? So did i totally f*ck up the bike by trying to manually start it or is the back-fire noise just a side effect that will go away later? PLEASE help!

thanks

well if the back-fire is consitant then it is probably something to check out but other than that i wouldnt wory about it. back fire is nothing more than it burning too rich and burning off the excess fuel. If it keeps doing it then i would get it checked out though cause that isnt good for a motor to do it all the time

Try popping the clutch in second (I have had better luck), and I don't give it full throttle, just a little gas. Like mentioned before, you may get a backfire or two, it is not hurting anything. If it keeps backfiring once it is running, you might have that checked out.

or better yet just buy a new battery or try charging it "pop starting" really works the charger and the recifier hard trying to get that battery back to life your better off just charging with a stationary charger or replacing the battery.
