battery question

i have an 01 F4i and when i leave it sit for a couple of days, i have to push start it to get her going. when its going, however, i have no problems with it dying or anything. is it time for a new battery or should i just charge the one that is in it?

RE: battery question

it may be more hardcore than that...if it's the stock battery...then i say it needs replacing.
if it's semi new, gots to make sure that it's not your alternator not charging the battery.

i ride mines all the time, same battery for like 37K now and still all good...or do i have 38...whatever mang!
you need to ride it more that's all it means.

RE: battery question

they sell a battery maintaner for our battery for like $35.00 at your local parts store. It does help the battery during the winter time.

Are you turning your emegency kill switch off when you park it. If you are, dont do that. I had the same problem and the bike will drain its own battery if you do that.
Other then that, Ide say replace the battery

if the battery is older than it might be time for a new one. if its new you'll have to check your charging system. since its not dying once you get going Im assuming that your batter either had no cold crank amps or its just really low

Why does that cause the battery to go dead?

um...i have never heard of that before...that bugger has nothing to do with the battery mang...
in msf, they teach you to use that kill switch too.

it's like if you sit on cold concrete, you'll get hemmorhoids...

You will get cold nuts though ... and that's a fact:) Ditto on the kill switch. Never heard that one before. All that switch does is open the ignition circuit. If you ride regularly and in a couple of days of no riding it won't start then ya prolly need a new battery. Reason I say that is because if your charging system is going tits up and the battery is weak then you wouldn't ride for long before the bike just died.
