Default Battery problem?

I'm thinking i have a battery problem but not 100% sure, My bike will usually start most of the time but sometimes it won't start and i'll have to push start it. Yesterday night I rode it about 40 miles. Was hanging out with some people and rode it around like maybe 2 miles. After I stopped when I went to start it again it wouldn't start. Had to push start it to get going. Also the clock on the dash i'll set it to right time and it will be off the next day. I've had to push start it maybe 3-4 times in last 2 weeks

Only one push-start would be enough for me to diagnose whatever the problem is. ;-)

Sounds like a bad battery. Have you trickle-charged it & then tested it?

Have the battery tested. How old is it?

Put a voltmeter across it while its running and check your charging system to make sure its working.

I havn't tested the battery or anything like that. It's my first street bike (Rode dirtbikes for as long as I can remember) 2002 cbr 600 f4i. 14k miles clean title never dropped all stock except slip-on. I figure the battery is pretty old though. It needs a rear tire and brake pads are pretty much gone all the way around Got it 2-3 weeks ago

I have a friend with a 2003 f4i 600 just like mine but different color. He done a ton of things to it and he said he's 100% sure it's the battery (Don't know how he can be but I mean it's the only thing I would know also) Any opinion on batteries from ebay? I googled what people thought and a bunch of people have gotten 2-3 years out of them some people 4. This battery sold 78 of them and 99.6% feedback Which makes me think it has to be decent. And at $28 if it lasts over a year i'd be happy with it. What do you guys think? AGM Battery YTZ10S for Honda CBR 1000RR 1000 RR 04-07 600 600RR F4i 01-10 CB900F | eBay

Not trying to spend a bunch on the bike

I have the EXACT same symptoms with mine.

Alot of bump starts and clock resets in the past few weeks.

$28 seems to be the going rate on ytz10s from ebay and they should last ateast 5 years.

No one likes to spend top dollar, but there are areas you should never skimp on, like tires and brakes.

I don't want you to buy a battery and have the problem come back again. It happened to me with both of my f4is.

Do you have a voltmeter? If you really want to know whats going on with the bike you need to test the charging system. With the meter, hook up one lead to each battery pole and measure the voltage with the bike off, at idle and revved to 5k rpm. At idle you should be getting 13.5 volts minimum and revved up about 14v. Post back with what you got

Most important about AGM battery is not to let it drain more than 60% between charge. i.e turning the key on and working on your bike.

As for finding out if the battery is good, take it to CYCLE GEAR and they do a load test for free. Don't take it to autozone or Orielly because they may misread a bike' battery using a car battery tester. That's what happen to me, I thought it was something else that cause my bike not to start...but ends up being a dead battery.

Yeah i'll probably get that battery then. For brakes everyone tells me EBC HH pads, And tires everyone says michelin but my friend is trying shinko or something like that this time.

and no one says bridgestone battlax s20's, i find them to be awesome tires, you can go with HH in the front but probably don't need something that serious in the rear.
