Default Auto choke taking forever!

Afternoon chaps,

I've had a good search but can't seem to find anything close. When I start my bike, it fast idles at 3k for between 3-5 minutes before the temperature reading comes on and it slowly starts to drop down to normal idle speed.

Is this a normal time for it to warm up?

3-5mins... does seem long. but i'm from southern california though. if it's the thermostat, then that's no fun to replace.

If its idling up at 3k then its cold where ever you are. Yes thats perfectly normal when its cold. If your in phoenix like me and its the summer time and 115* outside then no, thats not normal.

yes very normal when cold.... it messed with me when i got my bike when it was warm.. the cooler nights and mornings it started to idle high thought it was a issue but it went with the ambient temp outside warmer it was faster it would get to proper idle.

3-5mins seems to be a bit long though. unless someone else can confirm that is how long it takes for their bike to warm up in the cold.. but it should only take a min or so.

I started to ride already and some days when it was 40 degrees out it would take about 3-5 minutes for the idle to start dying down.

I'm pretty worried that its something wrong with the bike but it's pretty much freezing outside so I'm not sure. I'm going to guess it's normal because after I start riding for a minute or two it goes down to regular idle RPMs.

If I start mine when it's 40 or below out it'll idle high for probably close to 4 or 5 minutes. That's what it's always done. In the summer it might idle high for a minute max if it idles high at all.

Mine always stays at 3k for awhile until it reach exactly 60C (140F), then idle down nicely to 1.3 and stays there. Yeah it's around 3-5 minutes
