RE: Anyone one paint their intake tube covers?
Reading this thread got me wanting to tidy up my plastic. Went down to Advance Auto before dinner, bought some of that Krylon Fusion paint, popped the panels, cleaned the plastic real good, and gave 'em a couple of coats. A few minutes work and a couple hours later and it looks so much better. Here's the before and after. Thanks for giving me the idea, you guys. Always looking for cheap ways to make the bike look a little better.
Before:
After:
Tidy's it up quite a bit, don't it? And all for under $5 for a can 'o paint. Booyah.

Used the Krylon Fusion gloss black. I think it turned out pretty well. I thought at first about going matte black (as i did with my passenger pegs), but figured i'd get as close to the gloss black that's on the fairing as i could. I think it looks nice.
If you wanted to try and match the black on the frame, a semi gloss would probably do the trick. The plastic does look a bit glossier than the frame.
If you really want to match the black on the fairing, after looking at the finished product, i'd say the Krylon gloss black is a very close match, but you're gonna have to sand the plastic down smooth. The texturing on the plastic keeps it from looking the same as the fairing, even though the color is extremely close. I might end up sanding it eventually, but that's a lot more work than i want to put into it right now. As it is, i think it looks 100% better.
