Anyone ever Take apart mirrors?
What I'm trying to do is get the plastic mirror itself apart from the alum shaft. I have a set of mirrors from when my bike was wrecked, they both snapped at the mount end but the mirror housing/lenses are still good. So I figured that I'd just pick up a set of mirrors where the mirror broke from the alum shaft (only plastic was damaged) and mix parts to make a good set...so far, no go.
The only way that I figure this would be possible is to remove the mirror lense from the plastic housing so that I can get to the locknut inside to remove the plastic from the shaft. I'm sure this looks like babble to most, but if anyone has ever taken mirrors apart, please help me out with some insight.

RE: Anyone ever Take apart mirrors?
well i attempted to take my broken one apart from my accident, but i ended up breaking the glass in the process. once you get the glass out, you would be able to do what you are trying to, but you have to get the glass out without breaking it. let us know if you are successful.

I thought, what if somebody hollowed out a mirror and installed one of those tiny LCD screens in there for a rear view camera mount. LOL. It can double as a video screen for those poser moments in the parking lot.
