Default Anyone with +2 in the rear

Does anyone have a 16/48 sprocket set up? If so was it worth doing? Did you notice a big differance and if so how would compare over stock? How far off is the speedo? Can you use the same chain size? Im thinking of doing a 48T Supersprox rear, Stock 16T front and a gold DID chain keeping it all 525. Lastly what are some tips for doing this yourself? Is there a cheaper chain tool that works good or do I got to buy a good one? Thanks

IMHO I wouldn't do +2 in the back.....just down a tooth in the front. 15tooth equates to +3 in the back....and you can use the same chain

I got to agree with chetman. You can use this website to play around with gearing. http://www.gearingcommander.com/. If you do a -1 up front make sure to get a speedohealer.

I have a +2 in the rear...it has good pull down low, but up top ur revs will be howling...which i dont really mind haha. i have a gold did x-ring chain and u can use the stock size...ive never really played around much with gearing so id believe whatever the other guys are saying.

Thanks for everyones input. I have one more stupid question, Your saying +3 in the rear is the same as -1 in front. Ok so if I have 2 f4i that are exactly the same except one has 16/49 and the other has 15/46 would there be any differance? Would the bike react differently if you drop down in front sprocket instead of adding to the rear?

I don't think it would make any difference what so ever.
Maybe when you are up near top speed one might be a .25mph faster due to not being the exact same ratio (16/49 = 3.0625, 15/46 = 3.0667) but your not going to get any closer to identical performance.

after that i would say that dropping the front down 1 tooth is losing rotating mass so it would be the better way to go if you only wanted to do 1 or the other...my 2 cents

Thanks for the info! My last question is, Is this a mod worth doing? Would it improve 1/4mile times or give a little edge in a race against another 600? I want my bike to be as fast as it can be without hurting anything, im not too worried about doing wheelies bc it does them fine with the stock set up. So pretty much my goal is just to get the most out of my bike. Thanks again
