hey dude, i have an 02 f4i i purchased recently that has already been converted to running dual low/high beams. the modification includes the two bulbs and the harness with the 3-prong connectors if you want to trade. i'd like to stick with the stock light setup.

Not very safe doing it that way (running beside the bike trying to roll start it).
Get on the bike, have a friend push you down hill; about 10MPH dump the clutch and it should start...no starter button req'd.
If its kicks you want, disconnect the 3 calipers from the bike then go downhill..

It was not fun and took a good 40minutes but we got it done. If you have a nearily dead batt and you stop some where and that thing just goes out, your best bet is to call a tow truck, right? Yes if you want to spend money. However, if you want to start the bike up then you need to turn ignition on, drop to fist gear, put the clutch in and run with the bike till u pick up some speed, 10mph would be ideal. Reach YOUR maximum speed and dump the clutch and hit the starter. Back tire will lock up and hopefully spin. THat one spin is enough to get the alternator to work and will get the bike moving effortlessly.

JayBird you could do that, sure! My situation just included one person in the middle of the street. Also, I dont have the luxury of hills in the middle of brooklyn. The start button is just for insurance, in case it did not fire the first time at half a crank.
But you can do it your way too. Easier.
And hwnf4i, you said the key words yourself. "The charging process begins at 1200 to 1500 rpm on our bikes. How many people have their idle set at 1500 rpm..." Right, "charging process"! Thats to have a great electrical load onto the battery than the resistance from the battery in order to charge it. However at 500rpm its enough for your biketo have 14+volts(from alternator) to hold the bike down while its idling WITHOUT THE NEED TO CHARGE A DEAD BATTERY. I think your confused between charging and running.

Eeaaasy alek... I in no way was tryin to dis you.... as for a bike with a dead battery as in will not accept a charge.. the bike just "will not run the same as one with a good battery" thats all I was tryin to say. even a bike with a weak battery wil run better after the battery is fully charged. To clarify "The bike will run if jump started or kick started" (yes I agree) but not as well. And I think we both agree on that

hwnf4i, I know you werent here to disrespect anyone. I too did not come here to pick a internet fight. I wanted to clear up some misconceptions regarding the battery and the high bean affect on the batt. I just try to stick to the posted topic and leave personal stuff out. Which I hope I did.
