2600 miles of fun... 10 seconds of dumb

I have ridden the snot out of my bike. I picked it up 14 May 06. I have ridden to work all but 2 days since. A couple of Saturday 100-300 mile trips.
So I was practicing in the parking lot. (I have practiced a lot, rear brake...front brake...full knee turns...etc.)
I have felt the front get light under full throttle, but I prefer to experiment under controlled conditions.
So I think "Let me try to get the front up a few inches. I'm not looking to stunt this thing, I just want to know what to do / not to do out on the road."
A couple of 6-12 inch wheelies later = this isnt too bad.
Approaching the edge / curb of the parking lot = bad.
Locking front brake during panic stop = badder. (not a word...used for humor)
Hand surfing the pavement while watching precious bike sliding along to cash in on the curb...headlight first = baddest.[/b]
Now I get to drive to work. (Man, does that feel wierd)
Damage:
Headlight assembly
Front Fairing (for a Blue/Black '06)
Right Side Fairing (for a Blue/Black '06)
Right Peg
and probably the headlight/fairing Bracket
Comments? Questions? Concerns? Criticisms?
Any help on ideas to get it back together...cheaper than stealorship?
Oh, and I rode it home 5 miles with the TILT sensor loose.
Took me a while to figure out why it kept stalling, and why it would start if I messed with the dangling headlights.

Sorry to hear about that...sounds like your damaged parts were the same parts as when i went down...i highly recommend ServiceHonda.com for OEM painted and stickered parts direct to your door...they can get any honda part for alot less than the dealer price.

I'll check out that site = servicehonda.com
Find part number first...then check price.
Curious:
What did you replace, and what did you pay?
To all,
I am surprised I havent seen the calamari replies yet.
I do recall a lot of posts in reply to 06CBRF4i.
I have read a lot of posts, and this forum seems quite helpful to most.
Anybody with part source ideas?
Or, to put the question differently.
Where did you order your part (Mirror, windscreen, rearset, decals, farings) from?
Thanks

I ordered from ServiceHonda.com
Right peg bracket
Right Mirror
Headlight Assembly
Front Cowl
Front Cowl Upper Bracket
Ended up being about 900 bucks, but that is for factory parts, new, decaled, and painted just like what was on the bike
ps...that upper cowl is rediculous...it was about $430...that was the part that jumped me up on price
I still need to replace the rear cowl and side fairing, but looking for e-bay faring and eventually paint them black over winter

Sounds to me like you are a pretty smart rider. We all screw up. At least you were in a parking lot.
eBay has a lot of f4i parts. I have my stock rear sets I can make you a decent deal on if you have trouble finding them. Or take the opportunity and upgrade to some Vortecs!
There is also some really good companies (you could do a search here, or definately on cycleforums.com) and find the name of it. They do full plastic repairs and send them back primered and ready to paint. I have heard fantastic things about them. I apologize I can't remember their name right now. I will do some looking.

eBay and servicehonda.com for all my parts needs.
You were doing it in a parking lot. That is where that stuff belongs.
When you do stuff like that, you do it knowing there is a risk that you will wreck the bike and accept that risk.
The only thing I would say, is it sounds like you need to work on your emergency stops. On good pavement with decent tires, the only way to lock the front is to "slam" on the brakes. Quick and smooth application will stand the bike on it's nose before you can lose the front. I have had a car slam on the brakes in front of me and I brought the rear off the ground. I got it stopped with TONS of room to spare because I practice a lot in parking lots. Sure it will wear brakes and tires out quicker, but it's cheaper than plastic.
When you get it back together practice "almost endo's". You do them just like you would pull a stoppie, but practice keeping the rear just skimming the pavement. That is where your best braking is. They aren't dangerous as long as you stay off the rear brake.
Since you didn't report any road rash I am guessing that you had your gear on, so good job!!

what were you thinking mang?!?!?! do that stuff out in the street where everyone can see how bada$$ you are! hahah j/k...
you won't see any squid comments here, as was stated before, you took it to the parking lot! i'm sure someone will say you should've found a bigger lot or anything, but in my book...you ok!
also try www.ronayers.com and whatever else. best bet is ebay cause things like the headlight assembly and what not are still BALING!
