Default 2006 Oil change step by step

Hello, I have yet to perform my own oil change on my bike and was hoping that someone could post or if there is one a complete step by step guide on how to change the oil. Also, what are some people's recommended oil types.

1- stop riding bike.
2- put drain pan under bike.
3- remove oil plug.
4- replace oil plug.
5-remove oil filter
6- replace oil filter.
7- refill oil.

You don't need to remove any fairings or use a rear stand.

I remove the left hand side fairing so nothing is in the way, and then I put some alum foil under the filter on the header so that anything that runs down will go through the foil like a funnel and drain into the pan.

I use Rotella T conventional oil, but for my f4i I am going to try out their synthetic.

Get 4 qts. You will have some left over.
Don't be surprised if auto zone doesn't have it. They don't carry that much motorcycle stuff. You will probably need to go to a motorcycle parts store.

4 quarts, the bike takes 3.5 quarts after a oil filter change, don't over fill it. make sure you get oil for motorcycles because of our wet clutches it is common practice to use oil specially designed for it.

I use Mobil 1 out of preference. I liked the clutch response after switching on the F3 from Rotella. Pep boys carries it here
